Dylan Thomas project featuring Peter Read & Terry Clarke

Peter Read is an acclaimed Swansea poet and actor. We've recently become friends and decided we'd like to work together somehow on something incorporating poetry and songs. Things have moved along pretty fast and we've been commissioned by the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea to write a new work which will be based on certain aspects of Thomas' life. A life lived and experienced in Swansea and the further reaches of Carmarthenshire in Wales in London's Soho and on to America. The songs and poems will also focus on some of the people he knew ... Shelley Winters, Charlie Chaplin ... who knows at this stage?!

Peter has received wide acclaim for his one man show 'Dylan Thomas in America' and his portrayal of Dylan in Phil Bowen's play 'A Handful of Rain'. He is currently in a touring production of Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure' until the end of February. Meanwhile we've been getting together when we can to make notes and I've already written some songs for it. Rehearsals will begin in early March and we expect to be able to take it on the road in May through the summer.The working title for this project is An Evening With Dylan Thomas & Friends.
