CALL UP A HURRICANE Released 1990
David Grissom's guitar riffs on 'Rock the baby' begin the journey across inner landscapes. Eerily percipient, applicable to the Civil war and current conflicts, 'Wish You Were Here' is a lovely ballad, political content interwoven into a romantic context. 'Buddy's On the Flatland Road' is a rave up rocker that evokes late night drag racing on flattop highways, pedal

to the floor, with gospel flavoured backing vocals, on which slap bass and thunderous cardboard box infectiously punctuate the lyrics. Clarke writes poems about everyday life and unhesitantly wrestles with the politics of modern times.
Music City Texas

One of Time Out's albums of the year 1991

Parched leather voice, cracked dusty lungs and a desert heartache. The best country album of the year.
Birmingham Post 1990

'Call Up A Hurricane' is a collection of eleven Clarke originals that, although written by a Brit, are essentially Texan in content and spirit. The time Terry spent working with and hanging around with the likes of Joe Ely, Butch Hancock and Gary Nunn has been well spent as is clearly evident on these selections. Fans of contemporary Lone Star music just cannot afford to be without 'Call Up A Hurricane'.

Excellence sometimes appears in the strangest places ... Terry Clarke's debut album sees a Reading boy playing Texas country and rock with all the applomb of any Texas native from Joe Ely to Butch Hancock.
Insight

Every song is from the pen of Terry Clarke ... and impressive they are. One can almost smell the magnolia blossom and sense the very presence of the confederacy in 'Wish You Were Here'... I found 'Buddy's On The Flatland Road' stirring up my memories of Buddy Holly and Lubbock, Texas. It must only be a matter of time before named country artists pick up one of his songs.
